"In light of the scheduling and logistical problems connected with the proposed Independent Annual Meetings, and given the views our members expressed in our recent member survey, the Board, in its April 12, 2008 meeting, approved a recommendation that the AAR begin scheduling concurrent, yet independent Annual Meetings with the Society of Biblical Literature as soon as is feasible."Hopefully SBL will play nice. The two meetings should have never been separated.

agreed. i loved when the survey came back and 75% of the AAR said that they'd have "very great" or "great" interest in meeting with the SBL. Once again, the elitists who run the AAR are out of touch with the majority of their constituents.
